In AMAP, it's called Gusu Dinner Exquisite Subangcai (Pingjiang'er Shop). A friend who lives near Shanghai recommended it. It's a very quiet restaurant with a nice atmosphere, air conditioning, and live music. We ordered "lion head meatballs," which are pork balls cooked in their own juices and wrapped in a cabbage leaf; they were delicious and very juicy. We also had the squirrelfish, which is served whole, fried, with a tomato sauce (similar to ketchup). It also came with fried potato balls. It's one of the more expensive dishes on the menu, which made the bill a bit high, but the place itself is reasonably priced. For dessert, we ordered one that had been recommended to us, but it wasn't on the menu that day, and they still served it to us and didn't charge us for it. It was a plant-based milk curd with osmanthus-infused rice and taro balls. Delicious and fragrant. The water was served in the set, even though it was hot, which is customary in China. The total was 226.48 RMB (26€).

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Gusu Jiayan Restaurant (姑苏家宴) in Suzhou is a true experience for anyone who loves authentic Chinese cuisine. 🇨🇳The beautiful traditional decor immediately catches your eye – with lots of wood, red accents, and the feeling of stepping into a piece of ancient Suzhou culture. For lunch, I had, among other dishes, the famous "Squirrel Mandarin Fish" (松鼠桂鱼) – a signature dish of the region and a real highlight. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with that typical sweet and sour sauce – exceptional in taste and beautifully presented. Accompanied by classic fried rice and green tea – simply perfect. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the service was pleasantly calm and respectful, as one often experiences in China. A restaurant that perfectly combines tradition, flavor, and atmosphere. 🌸For me, one of the best authentic restaurants in Suzhou—a place I'll definitely return to on my next trip. (Visited in 2024)

Nice and authentic Suzhou food, especially love the squirrel fish and the cauliflower! Great service too and very polite. Nice and pretty environment too. We used dian ping app and there was a very good promo! It was recommended on their local TV channel too, but the place is big enough so there was no wait.
